About the CJDS
The Canadian Journal of Development Studies provides an interdisciplinary, bilingual forum for scholars, practitioners, and policy-makers from around the world to explore and exchange ideas on both conventional and alternative approaches to development.
The CJDS is particularly interested in the policy applications of innovative theory and research, and the role of countries such as Canada toward the promotion of international development and a more equitable world order. Coverage is not restricted geographically and is open to all theoretical and strategic orientations.
The CJDS publishes peer-reviewed papers with significant implications for development planning and policy on both sides of the North-South divide. Submissions may take the form of theoretical works and review essays, applied research findings, substantive empirical analyses, case studies, and contributions to methodology. Shorter technical and practical research notes, personal reflections and commentary, and reviews of recently-published books on development are also welcome.
Articles appearing in the CJDS are indexed in ABC Pol. Sci., America: History and Life, CAB Abstracts, Canadian Periodical Index/Index des périodiques canadiens, CSA Social Services Abstracts, CSA Sociological Abstracts, CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, Devindex, Historical Abstracts, IBR (International Bibliography of Book Reviews), IBZ (International Bibliography of Periodical Literature), International Development Abstracts, International Political Science Abstracts/Documentation politique internationale, PAIS International in Print, Periodica Islamica, Social Sciences Citation Index, Standard Periodical Directory.
The Canadian Journal of Development Studies is published four times a year (in March, June, September, and December) by the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development and the University of Ottawa. The CJDS is the official journal of the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development. Membership in CASID includes a subscription to the CJDS.
